Relativsätze
With the Relativsätze we are able to describe someone or something better without beggining a new sentence:
The Relativsätze are always related to something mentioned in a previous clause. They can begin with a Relativpronomen (relative pronoun), which needs to be inflected according to the gender and number of the noun to which they refer. Exemples:
When the verb of the Relativsatz demands a preposition, you must put it right before the relative pronoun:
| Kasus | Nominativ | Genitiv | Dativ | Akkusativ |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Maskulin | der | dessen | dem/welchem | den/welchen |
| Feminin | die/welche | deren | der/welcher | die/welche |
| Neutral | das/welches | dessen | dem/welchem | das/welches |
| Plural | die/welche | deren | denen/welchen | die/welche |
In some cases, it is also possible to create a Relativsatz beggining with one of the W-Wörter (was, wie, wofür, etc.). Examples:
